2011 Intermountain Concours d’Elegance

Posted on 27 August 2011 by Adam Kaslikowski

The 2011 Intermountain Concours d’Elegance has just wrapped up, and if you didn’t make it boy did you miss out. The gardens of Thanksgiving Point were filled to the brim with interesting metal representing the last 100+ years of global car design and manufacture. This event has quickly become a must-see show on Utah’s automotive calendar. The Elegance is an antidote to the usual roped-off parking lot or convention center shows that Utah typically sees.

My personal choice for Best in Show has to be the convertible Jaguar E-Type, if only because it stirred my soul (as well as other regions) with such vigor. Do want. Honorable mentions are the Shelby GT500 KR, another Jaguar (this time an XK120), and a gorgeous slate-blue Porsche 356. But if I’m honest, all the cars were winners. Every entry was interesting, every owner was friendly, and every attendee was there to appreciate and learn. The Concours couldn’t be more different from a typical car show in this regard.

For anyone whose blood has an octane rating, you owe it to yourself to attend the 2012 Intermountain Concours d’Elegance. I’ll be there, and if the universe is kind enough I’ll even have a car entered. Until that day I’ll have to amuse myself with photos from the event, which you yourself can do in the gallery after the jump…
