We recently saw the unveiling of the 2013 Porsche Cayman at the LA Auto Show and were very impressed with its new lines. Euroberge, our sister site out of Colorado, has just put up a great editorial about this new coupe and its chances of finally replacing the 911 as the best Porsche money can buy. Agree? Disagree? Read it here then sound off in the comments section if you think the 911 will always be the best, or if the Cayman is the heir-apparent.

The answer is no. Democrat or Republican, it is neither the President’s job nor within his/her capacity to dictate the price of this global good. Autoblog has recently broken down the reasons WHY this is the case in a very informative and succinct piece written by the incomparable Jonathon Ramsey. Head on over and read the piece, if only to use the information to interrupt a rant by someone less informed than you. You can read the short article here.

Reinventing a company is never an easy process. Reinventing a car company? Fuggidaboutit. At least, that was the sense before the very public rise of Audi recently. The German marque went from an also-ran in the luxury market to the must have car of the last two years at least. How did they do this? National Public Radio’s Planet Money recently dissected Audi’s rise to prominence and applied those lessons to what Lincoln has been doing lately. Can Lincoln be turned around? That remains to be seen, but so far – according to Planet Money – they are following Audi’s playbook to the letter and the chances are good. Personally we’re less than impressed with the MKZ and other recent moves by the Ford subsidiary, but only time will tell.
Head on over and listen to the 20 minute podcast story here. Lincoln’s future notwithstanding, the most interesting part is hearing how Audi was able to turn itself around and become one of the major 3 European luxury marques in so short a time. They seem to have created the code on reinventing a car company that all others now follow.

Change your engine oil every 3,000 miles, get regular tune-ups, and use high octane gas in your European luxury car. These are all basically commandments of car ownership, or are they? A writer over at Cracked.com – who also happens to be a diesel mechanic – has explored these topics and more and debunked some myths that come to us from the early days of cars when all that was holding them together was paraffin wax and prayers. Click here to read the full entertaining and slightly educational article.

We’ve all seen terrible bodykits and wings on cars that should have no wings. Thankfully, the first decade of the 2000′s is well over and modifying underpowered Japanese imports is no longer as much in the mainstream of American culture. Still, there are those who enjoy the automotive hobbies just as much as we do but happen to be missing any sense of taste or decorum when they modify their rides. Cracked has done a round-up of the most offending of these aftermarket add-ons and compiled them in a handy list. Are all of these “wildly popular?” No. But it is a fun read nonetheless.
