Demolition is a tricky business. If you don’t know what you’re doing you can send a building down right on top of yourself. But as with all things, there’s the right way to do something and then there’s the RIGHT way. John Watson Chevrolet of Ogden, Utah chose to go the latter route and bring down their old building using 4 trucks from their own inventory (likely with a little help beforehand from the excavator in the background).
The dealership has said that this was staged as part of an upcoming commercial they are producing. Apparently there is a camera in front of the trucks capturing all the action (and not showing the heavy machinery out back). On their YouTube channel, the dealer openly admits that the building was weakened before this was shot but revels in its awesomeness anyway. I agree. In fact, reading through the dealerships response to typical YouTube commenters is just as entertaining as the video clip itself. The responses are equal parts restraint and tongue-in-cheek ribbing, a hard balance to strike for a businesses page but they do it. Kudos John Watson Chevrolet, for that and this video example of America.
