I’ve been wanting to drive this car for months, and that’s rare. Vehicle debuts come and go and it is a difficult thing to pierce this jaded journalists shriveled heart and inspire any kind of excitement anymore. But I’ve been wanting to drive the BRZ ever since the brief on the car first hit the interwebs, and now the car is in front of me with the keys ready for the taking. And beyond the car? Miles and miles of Colorado mountain roads for my enjoyment. Giddyup. Hit the jump to see if the BRZ lived up to my personal hype…

DrivingScene would like to welcome our newest writer Brad Robertson.
It is Saturday afternoon and it is one of the last sunny dry days in the Pacific Northwest as we begin to enter the rainy, cold, miserable, depressed weather we are known for. So what would be better than driving sports cars with 500 hp, trucks with the towing capacity to pull a train, exotic imports you could only drive when the conditions are perfect and with the tops down and wind blowing through my hair. That was what I wanted to drive; apparently most of those cars don’t exist for test driving and need to be special ordered. So plan B kicked into effect and I asked myself what manufacture do I see everywhere in the Pacific Northwest, the answer finally came to me……Subaru.

A weekend camping trip with the guys, what could be better? Fresh air, fire, s’mores, guns, fire, star gazing, fishing, fire. Did I mention fire? Of course, all this burning required that we find a spot far from other campers and off the beaten path. What happens though, when you deviate from time-tested trucks and instead bring a more subdued vehicle to do your off-roading? Do you still need a truck to do all the fun things you want to do? Hit the jump to find out.
